Phenol Peel

Phenol peeling has been around for decades and is a remarkable peeling agent. Although phenol provides what many consider to be the very best resolution of sun damage and wrinkling, the side effects as well as the development of newer alternatives have caused many practitioners to stop using phenol.

Phenol is absorbed systemically and may cause ventricular arrhythmias, or an irregular heartbeat. Because of this potentially life-threatening side effect, treatments may only be safely performed while the patient is on continuous heart monitoring.

Additionally, phenol has a tendency to bleach the color out of the skin. While the wrinkles may disappear, all of the color of the skin tends to disappear as well. For these reasons, Dr. Revis only performs phenol peels in very specific situations.
